Electrochemical catalysts

Electrocatalysis is the heterogeneous catalysis of electrochemical reactions, which take place at the interfaces between electrode and electrolyte, where the electrode plays a vital role as electron donor/acceptor and of catalyst. Exploration of low-cost and high-performance electrocatalysts is necessary for clean and sustainable energy systems related to current & future environmental issues.

Electrically Rechargeable
Zn-Air Batteries

We are interested in understanding and developing catalysts - for example, composites of carbon, metal oxides, metals - for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in electrically rechargeable Zn-air batteries (ERZABs) using an aqueous electrolyte. Our research includes works related to the development of new catalysts and battery systems such as flexible cells, stack cells, and compressors for large-scale ERZABs.

Catalysis and Surface Chemistry

We are interested in the energy technologies such as hydrogen production (based on hydrogen evolution reaction, HER), electrochemical CO2 conversion (based on CO2 reduction reaction, CO2RR) for sustainable energy, and carbon neutrality for achieving reliable transportation and net-zero carbon dioxide emissions.
